Event Highlights:

• Stand-Up Paddle Boarding Adventures: Experience a variety of fabulous SUPs and hit the water for fun-filled adventures.

• Clothing: Wear clothes you don’t mind getting wet or a wetsuit.
• Footwear: Old trainers or water shoes for added comfort.

• All paddle boards and paddling kits.

• Families are welcome! Children over 7 can participate in the water activities.

Get ready for an unforgettable day of paddling and laughter!

TARGET NEL – Sharing the voice of our children and young people.

Children can participate in a character creation activity and share their thoughts on living by the sea. They can base their character on themselves, a fictional person, or a sea creature. Following the event, TARGET NEL CIC, alongside our filming team Jake (13) and Jasmin (18), will bring these characters to life in a short stop-motion film. This film will showcase the children’s opinions on seaside living and their vision for the future. Additionally, participants will have the chance to give their opinion on other issues affecting our waterways and beaches, such as littering.

TARGET NEL CIC aims to enhance children’s physical and mental well-being through creative media, featuring local history and heritage. Designed to include youth leadership, our programs educate, foster pride in the environment and stimulate future aspirations in young people.

East Marsh United accompanied by pianist Dean Stockdale will be joined by members of The Rock Foundation and friends for a pop up choir experience, starting with warm ups and followed by sharing performance.

Sea themed Hoola Hoop Act, Aerial Silks Performance, Aerial Lollipop Performance Join us for an extraordinary community dance performance inspired by the themes of the Festival of the Sea. This captivating piece features solo acts and has been created through collaborative efforts to foster community engagement. Following the dance, enjoy a mesmerizing mermaid-themed hula hoop show, a stunning aerial silks performance, and an awe-inspiring aerial lollipop act. Don’t miss out on this spectacular event! You can also see the works of visual arts backdrops around the festival which have been produced for you to admire by community groups.

Come see Bella Blaze Productions undersea wonderland with our mesmerizing Jellyfish Stilt Walkers! Towering gracefully above the crowd, our performers are adorned in flowing, translucent costumes that shimmer with bioluminescent light. They gracefully drift through your event, captivating guests with their otherworldly beauty. The Washed-Up Mermaid

This mermaid has been washed up to our world with an important message, the impact of our waste has been devastating in our oceans and the act exposes this sad truth. Sitting on an unsightly rubbish heap the silvery singing mermaid is an unforgettable image.

Captain O’GOldie

Join this giant of the seas on the hunt for comedy gold! A golden pirate captain (and his extraordinary long peg legs) who comes with his treasure chest full of pirate and nautical jokes that will have you cringing or cackling with laughter.

Hotch Potch

An South West based outdoor arts and performance company making environmental spectacular yet intimate works for all ages. Hotch Potch combine highly visual handmade costumes with story, circus and street theatre.

Stories of Water: Lens based Exhibition

In 2023 Our Big Picture was proud to launch the Women’s Photography Collective, a supportive and inclusive network for emerging women photographers that supports development in the contemporary photographic industry by creating positive change across the Humber region.

Stories of Water is a lens-based exhibition by the collective, the exhibition is being hosted at Our Big Picture 17 Bethlehem Street, Grimsby DN31 1JN and at a pop-up outdoor showcase at Festival of the Sea at Fisherman’s Wharf.

“Stories of Water” is an exciting dance project that aims to celebrate the stories of people and place—specifically, your stories and the sea. This artistic endeavour will delve into both real and imagined narratives, capturing those ordinary and extraordinary moments of ‘Hello’ and ‘Goodbye’. These stories may have a direct or indirect connection to the sea, or they might be simply inspired by it.

Lead artist: Soul Roberts – Contemporary Dance Artist

Dance Workshop/intensive curation & facilitation for Northern School of Contemporary Dance (UK), Gibraltar Dance & Sports Federation (GIB), Grimsby Institute (UK), & Our Big Picture (UK). Soul is an associate artist with Northern Rascals Dance Theatre Company; successful recipient of ACE DYCP funding (2022); curator & producer of 2020 digital performance platform ‘isolationishome’; & co-creator of the first Conservatoire for Dance & Drama Interdisciplinary Intensive.
