About

Join artist Wes Foster for an exploration of Grimsby’s dockside: noticing the details of a place that’s been shaped by the sea, industry and time, and finding new ways to see and record it.

Taking place as part of Festival of the Sea, this workshop uses phones and thermal print cameras as tools for looking differently. After a short introduction, participants set out on a guided walk around Alexandra Dock and the Fishing Heritage Centre, using a specially designed prompt card to capture places, sounds, atmospheres, textures and things that catch their eye: through photography, writing, or both.

With an emphasis on exploration and play over polished outcomes, we’ll use the images and fragments we collect together to create a collective response to the site.

Participants will be able to on the day take home prints produced with thermal cameras
